Read the recipes carefully!
"Recipes are delicious and the dates are mostly fun and creative. Recipes do have a lot of inconsistencies between when things are added versus the picture and stated cook times versus instructions (empanadas as an example say time is “while cooking” but instructions have you put the dough in the fridge for “at least an hour”. Tomato soup says cook time is 30 minutes but the instructions have you simmer the soup for an hour. It also has you ad bay leaves and then use an immersion blender and then simmer for an hour (we took the bay leaves out and then blended and then added them back in to simmer). We never look ahead and end up eating at 10pm. Advice is to read the recipes carefully and plan out your time."
Bought this as Christmas present
"Bought this as Christmas present for my adult son’s girlfriend…great idea…they love it."
Love it, I am very
"Love it, I am very happy and can wait to start out dinner dates. . ."
Badly Written Recipes
"Concept is great - but the recipes themselves are a mess. Instructions don’t match photos. Extra ingredients. Missing ingredients. Ingredients for one dish meant for another. Unsafe cooking techniques. I’m a very experienced cook and recipe writer: these would never pass muster in a cookbook, magazine and even the smallest food blog. The thing is? Such easy fixes if someone actually edited the recipes. We’re on our 4th dinner and it’s been the same, every one. NOT RECOMMENDED for inexperienced cooks who can’t see through this BS."
A lot of fun and make you make time
"My husband and I have thoroughly enjoyed the several dinner dates we’ve completed. We both enjoy cooking, but often, in our busy lives, don’t take much time to do it together or enjoy the process anymore. The dates help force us to slow down, and take some time to enjoy cooking or eating together in different ways. I appreciate the labels/symbols that help you know what you’re getting into (without giving it away), and give you options for how much time/money/travel you want to commit to. Would highly recommend; we've even given Adventure Challenge books as wedding gifts because we think it’s such a fun concept!"
Dinner dates
"My husband and I are enjoying the dinner dates we have modified a few recipes but over all amazing experience"
Make it even more delicious!
"We received this as a Christmas gift and had our first "adventure" last night--great fun! However, we believe there is a mistake in the recipe which should be corrected for future users. In the first Challenge, Gourmet Biscuits and Gravy with Steak, the recipe for biscuit dough shows 1 teaspoon of baking powder. In fact, that should read at least 1 TABLEspoon of baking powder, and perhaps more. i would suggest users look up another basic recipe for biscuits and they will find that for 2 cups of flour, much more baking powder is used. We followed the recipe and had white hockey pucks as our biscuits. This was great fun though, and we look forward to our next dinner adventure."
Fun and Delicious!
"We have only done a few dinner dates but the recipes are so good and the activities are fun as well. We get tired of eating the same things and we enjoy cooking together so I am so glad I found this book. My boyfriend loves it even more than the other adventure challenge books we have."
It was a gift and they loved it
"Gave it to as a gift to my newly engaged sister. They are foodies and they were so appreciative and loved it."
