The Adventure:
Are you ready to join Peter and Margo on the treasure hunt? If you want to be an explorer, you’ll need to be dressed like one! Tonight, you’ll be making your own pajamas that will give you special powers. Use your imagination and creativity to make them as fun and unique as you are.
Parent Instructions:
1) For this pajama-creating adventure, you’ll need:
• Fabric markers
• A T-shirt. You can let your child “recycle” an old shirt, or use a new one that you’ve purchased—it’s up to you. Just make sure it is a light color so you can see the markers.
2) If you want to make it a real party, get the whole family in on it. When you’re done, you’ll have matching explorer sleep shirts!
3) Other decorating supplies are optional. Your child will probably ask to wear their new pj’s to bed tonight, so avoid paints and glues that will take a long time to dry, or remind your child that their new “adventure suit” will be ready for tomorrow night.
4) Take a picture and write a note. Supplies: Fabric markers, White/light colored T-shirt(s), Optional decorating supplies

The Adventure:
Peter and Margo are so grateful you’re on this adventure with them! Now it’s your turn to join in the fun! What are some things that make you so happy that you just want to shout? Ask your Adventure Guide to help you make an amazing book together about some things you’re grateful for.
Parent Instructions:
1) For this journaling adventure, you’ll need some:
• Writing/drawing utensils
• A ”journal” that the whole family will contribute to! Your journal can be homemade out of construction paper, a hardcover journal, or a notebook from a dollar store (whatever you use, we recommend unlined pages).
2) On one page, have your child write—or help them write—what they are grateful for or what they love about your family.
3) On the next page, if you have time, have them draw/color a picture to reflect what they are grateful for.
4) When they’re done coloring and writing, take a turn yourself—write what you’re grateful for on one page and draw it on the next.
5) The goal is to pass the journal around to everyone in your family that evening and then gather together right before bed to share what everyone is grateful for!
6) Take a picture and write a note.
Bonus: If your family enjoys this journaling adventure, you can continue adding new pages to the journal weekly or monthly—or repeat the adventure as many times as you like!

The Adventure:
Peter and Margo need your help exploring the dark caves. Someone has hidden three items you will need before going to bed—what could they be? Don’t worry about the dark—you’ll have your adventure light to help you be brave!
Parent Instructions:
1) For this exploring challenge, hide three “bedtime” items of your choosing around the house for your child to find. If you have multiple children, hide three items for each. Ex: Put their toothbrush on the window sill, their pjs on the bookshelf, their hairbrush on the TV stand, etc. They’ll be searching in the dark with flashlights, so make sure the items look obviously out of place.
2) When you’re ready, hand out flashlights, turn off the lights, and start the search!
3) Feel free to tell them what they’re looking for or give helpful hints as needed. If they’re searching with siblings, see who can find the item with their light first, or have the older siblings help guide and give hints to the younger ones!
4) Take a picture and write a note.

Tonight we’re going to celebrate YOU! You’re going to make a list of the things that you like about yourself, then—just like Peter and Margo— you’re going to talk to some wise wizards! These special people are going to tell you some of their favorite things about you. You are smart! You are kind! Get ready to have so much fun!
Parent Instructions:
1) For this encouraging adventure, all you’ll need is:
• Paper
• Markers
2) Tonight is about helping your kids remember how wonderful they are. Make a list of 3-5 positive affirmations (good statements about themselves) that they feel are important (things like: I am smart; I am strong; I am a good friend).
3) For each affirmation, have them make up a hand motion or gesture to go with it! (For example: They could touch their head for “I am smart” or mimic giving a hug for “I am a good friend.”)

On your marks...get set...go! Tonight you’ll be racing through the jungle against Peter, Margo, and any other explorers who are joining the fun. Your Adventure Guide has set up some fun surprises for you. Do you have what it takes to complete this bedtime challenge?
Parent Instructions:
1) For this “adventure race,” you’ll need to set up the following bedtime- related challenges for your kids to try:
• Have them put their toys/games away or clean up a messy area... using only their elbows!
• Turn their pajamas inside out and hide them in/around the bed. The quickest one into their pjs gets to move on to the next challenge first! • Set out their toothbrushes and tell them to brush their teeth—but they have to keep dancing the entire time!
• Feel free to add other challenges, or swap out your own!
2) Once you’re finished setting up, tell the kids how many steps their bedtime relay is going to have, and send them off to the races!
3) If you have multiple kiddos participating, they can race against each other! If there is only one kid, have them race against the clock.
4) Choose a starting place and have fun watching them get ready for bed quickly.
5) Take a picture and write a note.

Peter and Margo stopped to watch the animals rest, and decided to join them! Tonight, we’re going to take a few deep breaths and move like your favorite creatures. Can you touch your toes like a silly monkey, or crawl on the ground like a big roaring lion? Have fun relaxing with your pals in the jungle as you get ready for bed.
Parent Instructions:
1) Do this challenge with your kiddo(s)! This is a great one for right before bed since it will help them get ready to sleep.
2) Choose an animal and ask your child to imagine how that animal stretches. Help them come up with ideas, then imitate those animal stretches together. Ex: Show them a crazy stretch and ask them to guess which animal stretches like that!
3) Count to ten with them slowly as you hold each pose and practice taking five deep breaths together. It’s your very own “jungle gym”!
4) Take a picture and write a note.

Tonight you’re going to play an exciting guessing game while drawing things that remind you of your adventures. But you won’t need pencils or markers for this art piece—all you’ll need is your fingers. Get ready for a fun time and an even better back scratch!
Parent Instructions:
1) This fun guessing game needs no setup or materials! Start by tracing an image that has to do with your adventures on your child’s back.
2) Once they guess it correctly, they get to trace something on your back! Keep alternating drawing and guessing until you’re ready for bed.
3) If you have more than one child, or the whole family is playing, you can all take turns drawing on each other’s backs.
4) Take a picture and write a note.

Peter and Margo are creating a story of their own, and they want to hear one from you, too! Can you work together with your fellow explorers to tell a story about a fun adventure? Use your imagination to take the story anywhere you want—but there’s a catch: You can only talk when you have the magic story ball!
Parent Instructions:
1) This storytelling challenge is great to do right before lights out. You’ll need: • a ball to pass
2) You’ll be taking turns and telling a story together tonight—but each person can only talk if they’re holding the ball!
3) One of you will start the story (“We’re looking for treasure, we started...”) and then pass the ball to the next person once you’ve added a few sentences or events. It can be as silly as you want! (“We’re looking for treasure, we started in the glowing bathtub full of shells...”).
4) If you’re playing with the whole family you can use a timer, or just decide as the Adventure Guide when it’s time to pass the ball to the next person.
5) Think about all of the adventures that you and your kids have done so far looking for this treasure. Keep passing the ball back and forth until your story comes to an end!
6) This is the last adventure you need to take a picture of and write a note for. You can now print all of your pictures and gather the notes for the last adventure.
